Willem, our ‘oldest addition’!

We love talent that pushes creative boundaries. For that, you need to meet our ‘new old addition’. The experienced designer Willem Klerk is a veteran in the field, and with his years of experience and fresh perspective, he is truly an asset to our lab!

Time to get to know Willem better!

Passion

“I knew from a young age that design and creativity are my passion. That’s why, after high school, I continued my studies at the Graphic Lyceum. Since 2000, I have been working as a graphic designer.” After a long career at various communication agencies and as a freelancer, Willem has been working full-time in our lab since the spring.

Less is more

Willem’s specialty? Logos and corporate identities: branding! And if you ask him how to recognize his designs, his answer is simple: “Minimalism! Less is more,” he says. “My signature in all my designs is ‘no bells and whistles’: pure, clear designs that speak for themselves.”

 “There’s a motto that perfectly sums up my way of working: ‘A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.’ A quote from the French pilot, writer, and illustrator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who became famous with the book ‘Le Petit Prince’. I completely agree with that!” With this guideline, Willem ensures that his designs are pure, functional, and visually appealing.

Versatility

Online or offline, for Willem it makes no difference. “I’m open to everything. My work isn’t tied to a single medium. Logos, business cards, websites, or brochures—I enjoy coming up with ideas and bringing them to life.” At MM, however, there’s a new challenge: building websites. “I have to get used to the fact that now, in addition to the design, I’m also responsible for the technical side of web design. There’s still a lot I can learn about that.”

At Home

MM feels like coming home for Willem. The atmosphere? “Friendly, good, and open,” he says. “You can say anything here. That’s important to me. It gives me the freedom to fully use my creativity.” With his problem-solving skills and creativity, Willem brings exactly the experience MM needs. His ambition says it all: “To keep creating beautiful things, every time!”

Relaxation and Inspiration

But there’s more to life than work. Willem is husband to Krista and father to Mees, Daan, and Fien. “In my free time, I love to paint and draw. Or I’m working with wood. Reading is also a favorite hobby. All moments to relax and find inspiration. So work and hobbies do blend together 😉.”
